Coaches

From time to time, I stumble upon valuable resources that other coaches can use. When I do, I will post them. If you are a coach yourself and you come across any resources that could be useful, please tell me and I will check it out.
If you are thinking of becoming a coach, try Exploring Coaching: A Step-by-Step Guide to a Fulfilling and Rewarding Career. This book explains what’s really involved in becoming a coach. And it’s a great way to explain to all those people in your life who don’t get it. It’s available through the Coach Training Alliance. (I don’t know why the link is just a tiny dot in the corner, but it’s there.)
Another great book that will help you get started is what some of my friends have been referring to as the “Coaching Bible.” I actually cried when I read the first few chapters, because every description of being a coach sounded exactly like me. The book includes a CD with templates of forms and tools you can use in your coaching practise. So convenient to not have to reinvent the wheel with those forms!
Get it from Amazon Canada
or from Amazon USA
And as long as you’re there, pick up Coaching for Performance too. I used it in my certification program. It has a more business-oriented approach but still extremely helpful. Whitmore uses the GROW acronym to clarify the goal-setting process.
