Doing It All On Your Own
Oct 29th, 2008 by Creativity Coach
Yeah! I know! You’ve heard it and read it all before in self-help books and movies—think positive thoughts, visualize what you want, ask the universe… You know why all those tricks don’t work? Because when you do it alone, it’s too hard to find that clarity. When you’re racing around on that hamster wheel of habit, you need someone else’s foot to boot you off it. And when your wheels are stuck in a muddy rut, you really do need an extra hand to hold the steering wheel while you push.
Sometimes you need big ears to hear you and sometimes you need large-sized boots to help you get out of the mucky-muck you got yourself into. And that is why you need to have either a support group of people who are going through similar experiences and can help you make sense of it or a life coach. At the very least, you will know that you are not alone.
It’s all well and good to help yourself, but it’s so much easier, more effective and more fun when you help others and they help you. (That was the sappy, touchy-feely part. Did you feel it?) If you are not ready for a coach to help you yet, you have some other options. Find a group of friends that are more interested in who you want to become than they are in keeping you the way you’ve always been. Meetup groups in your area can help. Join one that supports your interests or needs.
